Amanita Muscaria FAQs

Is Amanita muscaria legal?

Yes, Amanita muscaria is legal in the USA and Canada (expect Louisiana). It is rarely, if ever, included on a drug test and can be used safely at work as long as you keep your doses to microdose levels.

If traveling, keep the capsules in the included tin to be sure they have all the correct labeling to go through customs and TSA checks.

Is Amanita a psychedelic?

No. Although many companies will claim that Amanita muscaria as a psychedelic to cash in on the rising popularity of magic mushrooms, Amanita does not contain psilocybin, psilocin or any compounds that act on the serotonergic system (as classic psychedelics do).

Instead, Amanita muscaria and its main active molecule, muscimol, act on the GABA system, the main inhibitory system in the body. This means muscimol has a calming/ quieting effect on the mind and nervous system, allowing you to feel more at peace and more able to feel confident about yourself and your place in the world.

What’s the difference between luminita and lunar?

Luminita is the original product I came up with for myself. It includes only Amanita muscaria in the capsules with a bit of organic rice powder and natural red coloring (to help it be more enticing to take each day). It’s best for those who are new to Amanita or who wish to use Amanita during the day.

Lunar is the second product I came up with and is mainly for those who wish to use Amanita before bed. It contains both Amanita muscaria and wild foraged reishi, which synergizes to help calm the nervous system even more and give you restorative sleep.

If you’re unsure which is best, you can get the bundle (with a discount) and try both!

Does Amanita interact with any drugs?

Though I am not a medical professional and cannot give you advice, I can tell you what I have personally experienced or heard anecdotally.

Amanita seems to not combine well with alcohol (especially red wine), opiates, kava, benzodiazepines, or any medications that act on the opiate or GABA system. This is because combining too many “downers/depressants” (meaning things that reduce heart rate/breathing) can be risky.

Amanita’s is active in the body for 4-6 hours, so if you must use one of the above substances, I personally would not use them together within that window of time.

How do I use Amanita muscaria microdoses?

I recommend you take 1-2 capsules of Amanita daily for 3 weeks, and then take 1 week off to see how it affected you.

Play with dosage, starting small and working your way up, to find your perfect does. You should feel calm, centered and confident but shouldn’t feel “high” or like you are on a substance (remember Amanita is quieting the mind, not inebriating you).

Amanita has a reverse tolerance, so the more you use it, the more you will notice its effects.

Foraging Season Fall 2024

Here in the Pacific Northwest, Amanita muscaria fruit in a small window of time in the middle of Fall. It’s within this time frame that I pick every mushroom that I sell for the rest of the season (Nov-Oct). I travel into the mountains, into valleys and anywhere that is within the wilderness to pick the most pristine mushrooms, as Amanita muscaria is a bioaccumulator and can absorb toxins from the environment.

This past foraging season was awesome! There was nice weather, interspersed with rain (the mushrooms love that) and the mushrooms were beautiful and healthy. I often feel that foraging for Amanita is as much about luck as it is about skill. She is a magical mushroom after all.

I ended up traveling to some new areas throughout Washington that Amanita guided me to. Although they were not very abundant, I’m sure they will be nice areas to explore in the future.

Enjoy the photos of this past season above that I was able to snag in between foraging runs.
